NLP Training: How does it work? What techniques does it use? How does it help you?

Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) might be a new concept for some. It should not be confused with natural language processing that goes by the same acronym -NLP.

NLP Training is about changing the perception and behavior of a person to achieve desired outcomes. It is seldom used for treating phobias and anxiety disorders but principally for improving workplace performance and achieving personal happiness.

How does NLP Work?

Though there are varied interpretations of NLP, it believes in the idea that people function and guide according to internal maps of the world learned through sensory experiences.

During training, the first step is to detect and change the unconscious biases or limitations of one’s internal map. It may appear similar to hypnotherapy but is different. It works through the conscious use of language to bring changes in a person’s way of thinking and behavior.

The central feature of NLP training lies in the idea that every person is biased towards one sensory system, known as the preferred representational system (PRS).

NLP practitioners can identify this preference by reading the language. For instance, phrases like “I see your point” signify the visual PRS, while “I hear your point” signifies the auditory PRS.

Based on PRS identification, the NLP practitioner devises the therapeutic framework around it, involving rapport-building, information-gathering, and goal setting.

What techniques are used in NLP?

NLP is a vast field of practice with a myriad of techniques. Some of them are:

  • Anchoring: Altering sensory experiences into triggers for specific emotional states.
  • Rapport: It includes matching physical behaviors to enhance communication and response through empathy.
  • Swish Pattern: Changing patterns of behavior or thought to achieve the desired outcome instead of undesired one.
  • Visual/Kinesthetic Dissociation (VKD): Attempt to remove negative thoughts and feelings linked with a past event.

How does NLP improve your life?

In today’s quick-paced world, people get easily stressed with a situation. Sometimes, it results in bandwidth shrinkage. Their ability to articulate or creatively tackle an issue diminishes. Their ability to communicate fluently, effectively, or purposefully gets reduced as the negative emotions dominate their thinking pattern.

With the help of NLP training, a practitioner helps you amplify the ability to self-regulate and manage your internal state. The training helps you realize being a powerful resource, handle stressful situations, and enjoy a high degree of flexibility.

It can dramatically enhance the speed of learning as NLP practitioners introduce you with the most efficient way of learning. You can pick up new knowledge in much less time and become an influential member of your group. It could be your family, professional circle, networking group, friends, teams you lead, or the company you run.

If you want to improve yourself as a whole and improve your professional and personal life, NLP training can help you do that quickly and effectively.
